About Year 3

Year 3 is an exciting year for the children when they move from KS1 to KS2. We try to make the transition as enjoyable as possible for the children.

We have a number of exciting topics that are taught throughout the year. We have revised our curriculum to make it as relevant and interesting as possible for the children. Our thematic, skills based approach has been extended to incorporate a wider range of writing, mathematic and creative opportunities.

Where in the World?

Journey through the Window

This term Year 3 are exploring what the world is like beyond our window…

We are trying to find out…

How does the landscape change over time?

What did Cheltenham look like in the past?

Where are we within Europe?

What are the key features of a river?

What is it like to live in Greece?

What are volcanoes and earthquakes?

Time Traveller

This term Year 3 are history detectives and are trying to

uncover the past.

Our quest is to discover……

Wasn’t the Stone Age just a bunch of cavemen?

How did life change in the Bronze and Iron Age?

Why did the Romans invade Britain?

Who was Boudicca and who were The Celts?

What was the life of a Roman Soldier?

Hocus Pocus

This term Year 3 are exploring Roald Dahl’s ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ as the basis of our English and Science topic.

We will be exploring exciting experiments and perfect potions to inspire our own

marvellous medicines.

We will explore the differences and similarities of animals including humans based upon the characters from George’s Marvellous Medicine.

We will explore habitats and how they change over time. As we explore habitats we will design, create and evaluate our own habitats
